An escape room is game in which you and your team must solve a series of puzzles to complete the game. It's kind of like a scavenger hunt and a puzzle solving mystery had a baby game. The catch is, you only have one hour to complete your objective and make your escape!
We are located at 115 S. Egan Ave., Madison South Dakota.
No, all our escape rooms are simulated experiences and you can leave at any time. Leaving will however end the game.
If you are unable to escape, you become part of our game... Just kidding! Our game master will enter the room and explain how to solve the remaining puzzles (if you want to know), so you understand what was missed and then facilitate your timely escape so you can try again later!
Yes... and No... If you come see us during business hours and we have an available time slot, we'd love to accommodate your group. If however we are booked at the time you arrive, we will help you setup our next available booking.
Sorry but no one likes spoilers! We don't want any secrets to leak out and ruin the experience for an other group. For that reason, no electronics, phones, or cameras are allowed in the escape rooms. Before and after pictures however are encouraged!
We recommend arriving 10 minutes before your game is scheduled to start. Because we likely have groups before and after your session, arriving late will deduct from your game time.
Because you are purchasing tickets to a timed, live action event, all sales will be final. There are no refunds. Rescheduling permitted with at least 48 hour notice.
Of course! We encourage children ages 10 and over to participate with their families. All children under the age of 16 much be accompanied by an adult.
Some rooms may have age restrictions and will be clearly labeled.
Nope! Stranger danger is not a problem here, all rooms are private events with just your group and are closely monitored from outside the room by a game master.
All our games and axe throwing sessions are one hour max duration. Obviously additional time can be purchased if you'd like to stay with us even longer!
Please be prepared with a copy of your booking confirmation (just in case) and a group of your most trusted advisors to help you solve the rooms.
Well for Pete's sake yes! Your second attempt however is exempt from the leader boards due to an unfair advantage.
Not unless having an amazing time scares you! Some of our games may include darkness or scary themes but no live actors or harmful props will be used and you are 100% safe in our rooms.
No, all our games are private (meaning no other groups will be combined with yours), and we charge PER PERSON, not per room.

It's a lumberjack ninja adventure! Our northern neighbors (Canada) brought axe throwing into the urban entertainment space and ever since then it has been exploding across the continent and the world. Think of it like bowling but with axes and way cooler!
Axe Throwing is surprisingly accessible to all ages. With the help of our axe coaches we're confident that anyone (ages 12 and up) can learn to throw an axe. (or at least have a great time trying)!
Ages 12 and older are allowed to participate in axe throwing at our facility. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Our axe coaches will also be supervising the whole time.
Axe throwing may raise a few eyebrows, but we're confident in the safety of the sport and our safety procedures. Axe throwing has been around for years and has a better safety track record than most other action sports.
In addition, our axe coaches are highly trained in the safety and procedure of axe throwing to keep everyone on track and having an amazing axe throwing experience.
No, all axes and targets will be provided by Unlock Madison to ensure the safety of all our guests. League members may bring their own approved axes but only to league events. If you're interested in leagues, follow us on facebook for updates!
We Do! If you'd like to have a drink while you are throwing axes, we offer several beverages including alcohol.
That said, we do enforce a two drink per hour maximum and safety is our number one priority. If you appear to be intoxicated our staff will ask that you leave and visit us another time.
No outside food or drinks are allowed. We do have basic concessions available on premises.
If you are renting the entire venue for an event, exceptions can be made for catering. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited however.
Please wear whatever you feel comfortable in but no open-toe shoes are allowed when throwing axes.
We do recommend you dress to be active since you'll be throwing things. Don't go too crazy though, jeans and a flannel are practically the official uniform.
Of Course! We have front door parking on the street and a city parking area across the street directly in front of our building.
It would seem a bit strange if you didn't! Your #firstbullseye will easily be a top ten life event.
Don't forget to ask your coach for a post-game group shot and make sure to tag #unlockmadison!
We rent our axe throwing lanes by the half hour. You will have unlimited throws in this time. We recommend arriving at lest 15minutes early so your session can begin promptly at the time you booked.
Yes, before all sessions our axe coaches will go over safety and rules as well as teaching you how to throw the axes. Coaches will also be monitoring the throwing areas throughout the day and are there to offer tips and advice as needed.
